The Masters men entered boats in five events over the two days.
On Saturday the Steve Sangster D 4+ entered Masters D/E/F 4+ consisting of 9 crews.
This crew consisted of Steve, Dom Hawes, David Gowing and Andy Lynn. They beat St Neots by 4.5 lengths in the first round, then a Sudbury ‘F’ crew, who had a 16 second start by 3 feet. Finally they convincingly beat Broxbourne in the final by 5 lengths. A great result!
On Sunday, this same crew got a bye through to the final of Masters C/D 4+, winning by 1.5 lengths.
Also on Sunday Kevan Armstrong raced his single in the E1x in his return to racing. He beat Milton Keynes by 3.5 lengths, followed by a win over Star’s Phil Cook by 3 lengths. In the final he beat another Milton Keynes sculler by 2 lengths. An impressive return!
In the Masters D/E/F 8+, the E8 beat Peterborough City by 2 lengths in the semi, but in a hard fought race could not quite catch a Bedford/Derby/Nottingham composite F crew. A few more yards would have done it!
Finally in the Masters D/E 4+ event, the Star D crew stroked by Michael Mitchell beat Doncaster by 1 length in the first round but lost to the Bedford D crew by ¾ length in a very close race in the semi final.
