Women’s Squad

Our highly successful Women’s squads is back for another season! Wether you’re a complete newbie or a seasoned professional, there’s a spot for you on our squad.

This year we’ll be looking to have two tiers within the squad. The senior athletes will form the higher tier, looking to compete at national level and our lower tier, will be made up of development  women, competing in regional competition.

Both will form their one cohesive squad, with the aim of the lower tier to nurture our development rowers into the higher more experienced athletes. Naturally, commitment is key to either tier and so we ask that our development rowers can commit to 3 land session and 2 water sessions a week whilst our senior athletes will need to be able to commit to around 6 land sessions and 4 water sessions a week.

In previous years the women’s squad has boasted a World Champion who, like most other members of the group learned to row with Star Club, nurtured by coaches.

The women’s squad typically boats a quad/four and an assortment of smaller boats both for Head racing and for the Regatta season. Star Club has headed or been close to the top of the National rankings for successes in recent years.

Crews are well supported with group and individual programmes agreed with coaches for both land and water based training and race preparation. Attention is focussed on endurance preparation from September for Head racing up to March, leading to shorter Regatta distances over the Summer including Women’s Henley.
