A unique sport for all ages

A unique sport for all ages

  • Are you over 18 years old?

  • Do you want to improve or develop your personal fitness & flexibility?

  • Are you prepared to rise to unexpected challenges?

  • Would you like to join a sporting community of like-minded individuals?

If your answer to these questions is ‘Yes’, then the wonderful sport of rowing may be just what you are looking for.

At Star Club, we offer a rolling Learn To Row Programme (LTRP) which delivers comprehensive tuition in a single sculling boat for all new adult beginners. It is open ended and not restricted to a maximum number of sessions. LTRP is geared totally to the progress of the individual.

Once you have achieved an appropriate level of proficiency in a single sculling boat, you will be introduced to crew rowing and will ultimately move on to the Club’s Development Squad or other appropriate training squad for further development.

Nobody knows if they are going to enjoy rowing – or even be any good at it - until they have tried it.

Challenge yourself

LTRP training sessions are every Sunday Morning – 09:30 till 10:00 in our gym on a Concept 2 ergo machine to develop technique and fitness, followed by 10:00 till Midday on the water.

The number of sessions required by an adult beginner is approximately 12 but there is no upper limit – everyone develops differently.

Rowing is absolutely inclusive and there is a place for everyone – and we do mean everyone!

The only requirement is that you are able to swim 100m in light clothing.

At Star Club we have active adult members from 18 to 80 and beyond.

Star Club is affiliated to British Rowing and LTRP is conducted within a safe, protected environment, following guidelines issued by British Rowing.

We have a modern, fully equipped gym and a comprehensive fleet of boats and equipment.

A Club Bar / Cafe is available for hire & provides a relaxing social facility after training.

Star Club is run by volunteers and coaches do what they do free of charge for the benefit of the Club. Please don’t be afraid to help us run our rowing community by offering to use any non-rowing skills you may have.
